How a venture gets built

From opportunity to operating business

Every stage ends with evidence and a decision, so time and capital follow what the market shows. We aim to shorten the road to market by building from the first weeks.

  1. 1

    Opportunity research

We test the market, the timing and the advantage your company brings before anyone commits to a build.

    Decision to validate
  2. 2

    Customer validation

Conversations with real buyers shape the problem, the offer and the business model.

    Decision to build
  3. 3

    Product and company build

Operators build the product, the team and the company, backed by a business plan, financial model and roadmap.

    Decision to pilot
  4. 4

    Pilot to market

A commercial pilot with customers, then a launch plan built on what the pilot showed.

    Decision to scale
Choose the structure

Inside the company, spun out or built with startups

  • Internal venture

Built inside your organization, close to your teams, customers and operations.

  • Independent venture or spinout

A new company with its own team and governance, and room to bring in outside capital.

  • Startup collaboration

Building alongside young companies that already hold part of the answer.

Governance, IP, ownership and decision rights are agreed in writing at the start and shaped to each venture.

The Next Wave approach

Built to last and built to be investable

Thesis first

We work where we know the markets, in intelligent and sustainable infrastructure and the Era of Autonomy.

Operators inside

People who have built and scaled companies do the work alongside your team.

Durable fundamentals

Revenue, unit economics, governance and reporting that hold up to diligence.

An IP portfolio

We help identify, protect and build the intellectual property the venture needs to own.

The Safer where it fits

A revenue-linked instrument that can align investors and the venture.

How the Safer works

Capability transfer

Your team learns by building

We work side by side with your people. They take part in research, customer work, product decisions and company building, so the know-how stays with your company when a venture stands on its own.

Questions

What corporate teams ask first

Is our company a fit?

Established companies with real expertise, customers or IP near intelligent and sustainable infrastructure, and an executive sponsor who wants a new business built. If an opportunity sits outside our thesis, we will say so early.

Should the venture live inside the company or stand on its own?

It depends on how close the venture sits to your core business, how much outside capital it may need and how you want to govern it. We work through those trade-offs with you before the build starts.

What does our company commit?

Access to the people, customers and assets the venture depends on, an executive sponsor and a set of agreed decision points. Scope and terms are set in writing for each engagement.

Will Next Wave invest?

Studio co-investment is possible for some ventures, subject to fit and individual approval. Studio work and any investment commitment are agreed separately.

Who owns the IP and the equity?

Ownership of IP, equity and decision rights is agreed for each engagement and written down before work begins. There is no standard split.
